Preah Vihear and Koh Ker Temples Full Day private Tour

Depart your hotel at 8.00 am for the journey to Koh Ker, the former the 10th-century capital of the Angkorian Empire. Long abandoned to the forests of Cambodia, the ruins here were some of the most inaccessible and remote in Cambodia until the completion of a new road in late 2004. Along the way, we’ll stop to visit the Ancient Quarry “O-Thma Dab”. The Tour Guide will explain, how the stones were cut and transported to the Angkor Wat area.

We arrive at the Koh Ker city ruins after a 1 hour 40 mins drive through typical Cambodian countryside. We begin our visit at the Prasat Thom and creep through the main gateway, franked by atmospheric sanctuaries. We walk along a serpent-lined causeway to Prasat Krahorm “red brick temple” Near there, are Libraries and Reservoirs. Finally, we arrive at Prasat Thom “centerpiece”. Prasat Thom is a large seven-level pyramid, constructed of sandstones, 45-meters tall. If we climb to the upper terrace we will take in the panoramic jungle views and a refreshing cool breeze.  Next up, we visit other outlying incredible temples.  Archaeologists said there are more than 100 temple ruins in the area waiting to be restored.

After the lunch break, we will take a 1 hour 30 mins drive to the Sror Em, gateway to Preah Vihear. This afternoon, you’ll spend time touring the magnificent mountain temple of Preah Vihear which is Cambodia’s second UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple overlooks the Cambodia plain and presents some impressive views.

You will then return to Siem Reap after a memorable day of exploration.
