Day 1: Beng Mealea and Banteay Srei Temples
Begin your journey by visiting the most interesting outlying temples. Drive through scenic rural villages to Beng Mealea Temple. Visit the Bamboo Sticky Rice and sugar-producing village, the Ancient Quarry (the place where ancient Khmer people cut the stones to build Angkor Wat), and Banteay Srei Temple. (Duration: 6 hours+)
Day 2: Full-Day Tour with Sunrise in Lost City and Angkor Wat
Start before dawn to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Next, visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphuon, Vimeanakas, the Terrace of Elephants, and the Leper King. Then explore the jungle-enveloped Ta Prohm Temple. (Duration: 8 hours+)
Day 3: Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, and Pre Rub Temples
Embark on a guided tour around a massive religious complex with visits to some prominent temples. Explore the historical temples of Preah Khan, a UNESCO-listed temple complex. Wander Neak Pean Temple situated in the center of the reservoir and visit Ta Som Temple. Next, move to Easter Mebon and Pre-Rup Temples. On the way back to your hotel, visit Srah Srang. Day 4: Kampong Phluk Fishing Village and Flooded Forest
Visit the fishing village, flooded mangrove trees, village market, cloth weaving, and handicraft. Meet and talk to locals and see their daily lifestyles. (Duration: 4 hours+)
Day 5: Koulen Mountain, Waterfall, River of Thousands Linga
Set out for a trip to visit Koulen Mountain. Drive through pretty rural villages, jungles, rice fields, and up to the Koulen Mountain. Spend 15 minutes trekking through the village to the waterfall. There, you may want to swim and relax. Next, visit the Buddhist Pagoda, see the Buddha statues, and people praying, and see the Siva Linga. Wander through the temple and climb up to view the Giant Reclining Buddha statue. Move to the thousands of Siva Linga River, spend 30 minutes walking along the riverside, and view hundreds of Siva Lingas carved into the sandstone riverbed. Enjoy your lunch at local restaurants near the waterfall. On the way back to the hotel, drive past the Banteay Srei Butterfly Garden, sugar-producing villages, and Cambodia Landmine Museum. (Duration: 7 hours+)
Day 6: Koh Ker Group of Temples, the 10th Century Capital City
Depart your hotel at 8:00 AM for the journey to Koh Ker, the former 10th-century capital of the Angkorian Empire. Koh Ker was abandoned in the forest for many years due to the civil wars. First, explore the Ancient Quarry, the place where the ancient people took stones to build Angkor Wat. The tour guide will explain to you how they cut the stones and how the stones were transported to the Angkor Wat area. Then, continue your journey through beautiful scenic rural Cambodia to Koh Ker. Begin your visit at Prasat Thom, creeping through the main gateway, flanked by atmospheric sanctuaries. Walk along a serpent-lined causeway to Prasat Krahorm, the red brick temple. Near there, find libraries and reservoirs. Finally, arrive at Prasat Thom, the centerpiece, a large seven-level pyramid constructed of sandstones, 45 meters in height. If you climb to the upper terrace, you will see panoramic jungle views. Visit Koh Ker and other beautiful temples surrounding it. (Duration: 8 hours+)
Day 7: Preah Vihear Temple and Former Khmer Stronghold Along Veng
Depart your hotel at 8:00 AM and drive to the northern side of Cambodia. After 2.5 hours, arrive at Sror Em, gateway to Preah Vihear. Then, visit the magnificent mountain temple of Preah Vihear, Cambodia’s second UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple overlooks the Cambodia plain and presents some impressive views. Early afternoon, continue your journey to a former Khmer stronghold Along Veng, where you will visit the former base of Khmer Rouge General Ta Mok. Return to Siem Reap after a memorable day of exploration. (Duration: 8 hours+)
